  • Gilson HM-74 Pressure Aging Vessel (PAV)

The Gilson HM-74 Pressure Aging Vessel (PAV) uses heated, pressurized air to simulate long-term oxidative aging of asphalt binders. PAV's consist of an ASME-code and CE certified stainless steel pressure vessel, powder-coated, stainless steel cabinet with encased band heaters, and integral pressure measurement control. The new PAV4 features a recovery time of less than 20min, meets ASTM, AASHTO, and EN 14769 requirements and includes a platinum RTD device to ensure accurate temperature resolution and uniformity.

  • Forney LA-2810 Pressure Aging Vessel

Forney LA-2810 Pressure Aging Vessel removes air bubbles created during the in-service oxidative aging of asphalt binder by the PAV. Pressure tests work by using high pressure to increase the diffusion rate of oxygen into an asphalt binder sample. In general, this approach limits the loss of volatiles while aging the asphalt binder sample. RTFO aged asphalt binder is placed in an unpressurized PAV preheated to the test temperature. When the PAV nears the test temperature it is pressurized to 300 psi (2.07 MPa). After 20 hours of treatment the samples are removed, degassed and stored for future testing.

  • Forney LA-2810-01 Pressure Aging Vessel

Forney LA-2811-01 The PAV is designed to simulate in-service aging of asphalt binders. The system exposes binder, aged in the RTFO to high pressure and temperature for 20 hours. During the aging period, the temperature and pressure are maintained at +/-0.3°C and +/-0.03 MPa, exceeding ASTM and AASHTO requirements. The system is easy to use: press the heat button, insert specimens when prompted and press the age button. Control system fully automates start-up and shut-down and stores temperature and pressure test data for downloading to a PC. The PAV has a touch-screen controller. Pressure vessel is designed for operation at up to 115°C and 2.1 Mpa. Unit comes with 10 stainless steel pans, air regulator with quick disconnect, handle for pan rack, spare O-ring and exhaust control. The stainless steel cabinet measures 28 x 18 x 30 inches WDH (710x460x760mm). The PAV includes a set of ten TFOT specimen pans, a precision anodized aluminum sample holder with lifting handle, and a specimen handling tool.
